Special cover prevents dust in the city of Pernik in windy weather
" Toplofikatsiya Pernik " has started covering the " Kudin Dol " slag heap with geotextiles, which will prevent dust in windy weather. So far, half of the dry areas of the slag heap have been completely covered. The delivery of the required amount of geotextiles is awaited, after which the remaining part of the 50-acre slag heap will be covered. The entire process will be completed this fall.
The covering of the huge areas is being carried out as a commitment to the residents of Pernik, and in particular to the " Iztok " and " Moshino " neighborhoods. When choosing a method to prevent dust, " Toplofikatsiya Pernik " chose this one, despite its higher price. The alternative was to spray the terrain, but wasting huge amounts of water at a time when it is such a valuable resource was preferable to avoid.
They said they are also expecting the delivery of an extremely innovative grass-growing machine. It is planned to be used in the upcoming spring to improve the terrain.
" We are fulfilling our commitments and are thinking in the future about a greener and cleaner Pernik, because it is our home, " says the company's executive director.
For several years, the people of Pernik have been using hot water based on natural gas as the main fuel during the summer months, which is part of the commitments related to the transformation of the power plant.
