At an official ceremony today, the construction of the Tenevo Solar photovoltaic park, the first stage of the Tenevo hybrid RES complex, which will also include wind turbines and energy storage batteries, was launched. The solar park with a planned capacity of 237.58 MWp will be one of the significant projects in the country and the region. It is expected to be put into operation at the beginning of 2025.. In the next phase, the project will include over 250 MW of wind power and 250 MW/500 MWh electricity storage batteries. The solar portion of this project alone could fully satisfy the annual clean energy consumption of around 100,000 households. The project in Tenevo is a joint investment of the Danish company Eurowind Energy and the Vienna-based Renalfa IPP, through their joint venture EURA IPP. The executor of the project is Solarpro Holding - a multi-technology leader in the construction and operation of large-scale projects for the production of energy from RES with many years of experience in the photovoltaic sector in Europe. " We are glad that we launched this large-scale RES project in Bulgaria. This will be the first hybrid generating capacity of this type in the country and one of the largest and most complex clean energy projects on the Balkan Peninsula. It is important to note that it practically proves that renewable energy has a leading role in the energy transformation of the coal regions and will give a strong impetus to the green transition in Bulgaria, " commented Elena Markova, Executive Director of EURA IPP. Eurowind Energy is a Danish company established in 2006, after more than decades of experience, starting from a personal project on the family farm. To date, Eurowind Energy A/S designs, builds and operates energy facilities in 15 European countries and the USA. The company has built over 2.5 GW of capacity in Europe and already owns a small solar park in Bulgaria. The company is one of the first in Europe to invest in large-scale projects for the production of green hydrogen (PtX). Renalfa IPP is a Vienna-based independent producer of clean electricity. The company was created as a joint venture between Vienna-based Renalfa Solarpro Group GmbH and French infrastructure fund manager RGreen Invest. The company owns more than 450 MW of renewable energy generating capacity in Bulgaria, Hungary, the Republic of North Macedonia and Romania, and more than 1 GW of capacity is in an advanced phase of development and construction.
