The introduction of the euro will boost economic development

The introduction of the euro is a moment that should be used as a turning point for our economy. It will give a new impetus to the country's development. It will change the quality of economic growth. It is in the Ministry of Innovation and Growth that we consider it as a strategic instrument for transforming the economy, which will be based on knowledge and innovation. Our programs in support of business are also structured on this basis. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth Martin Danovski at an information meeting in Vratsa on the introduction of the single European currency from January 1, 2026.

He emphasized that after our entry into the eurozone, there is a huge potential for unlocking opportunities in sectors with higher added value such as ICT, electronics, mechatronics, biotechnology, pharmacy, health, as well as areas related to artificial intelligence, quantum computing and space technologies. " We consider the introduction of the euro as an opportunity to put Bulgaria's economic policy and growth on a new orbit, " he said.

Danovski also paid special attention to the important role of adopting the euro in terms of the development of small and medium-sized companies, startups and fast-growing enterprises. As key measures to support business, the Deputy Minister pointed to the European programs managed by the Ministry of Economic Development. He gave an example of the currently open procedures for application to increase the digitalization of enterprises and emphasized the possibility of receiving funding for Industry 4.0 technologies.

According to Danovski, with the adoption of the euro in our country, the countries of the region should start to make larger and more meaningful projects among themselves. " To this end, Bulgaria will make maximum use of the European instruments InvestEU, Horizon Europe and the European Innovation Fund. In conclusion, he once again emphasized that Bulgaria must move towards competitiveness based on innovative technological growth.

The meeting in Vratsa was also attended by the Minister of Electronic Governance Valentin Mundrov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nevena Lazarova, Mayor of Vratsa Kalin Kamenov, representatives of local institutions, nationally representative employer and trade union organizations, etc. Detailed information was provided at the event regarding the main stages and deadlines of the process of introducing the euro.
