Over 173 thousand people in the country do not have access to drinking water. This was stated on the air of BNT by the Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva.
Water losses in the water supply network in the country continue to be around 60% daily, she added, quoted by BTA.
The water supply companies feel absolutely unpunished, Delcheva pointed out. For this reason, one of the recommendations that the Ombudsman makes is to seek greater responsibility in how they fulfill their obligations for investments in the water supply network. According to her, a way should be found for every citizen to receive a penalty for the poor quality of the water they receive.
Regarding boarding schools in the country, the ombudsman pointed out that it is important that when children leave boarding schools, they are literate and have a trade. That they can earn a living, and not produce criminals, Delcheva added.
What we saw in the village of Varnentsi does not correspond to my understanding of how children should be raised there, she pointed out.
According to her, in these boarding schools it is important that children receive not only education, but also additional social and health care.
It is not normal for children in the sixth and seventh grades not to be able to read, she added. According to her, 18 people work in the boarding school, who are responsible for 22 children.
At the end of July, the Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev announced that he had ordered an inspection in connection with the information disseminated by the ombudsman institution about violence against children at the " Hristo Botev " socio-pedagogical boarding school in the village of Varnentsi.
