Airbnb for solar sites: Irish start-up for energy solutions sets foot in Bulgaria

The Irish energy and technology solutions start-up Solsign is stepping into Bulgaria with its platform, which, with the help of artificial intelligence, can instantly assess the viability of any plot of land for the development of a solar farm on it.

The technology aims to accelerate the transition to renewable energy by identifying promising locations for solar projects in different regions. With the help of the platform, it will be possible to analyze the suitability of the land for placing solar panels.

The digital portal combines legal, geospatial and current energy market data to simplify the process of identifying, evaluating and acquiring solar farm sites from utilities. This means that Solsign can instantly assess the viability of any plot of land in Bulgaria as a potential solar site, commented Eran Goren, Chief Operating Officer of Solsign, to Economic.bg.

Solsign has Europe`s largest database of pre-vetted land suitable for solar projects and helps renewable energy developers reach an agreement with interested landowners and obtain permits to connect to the grid.

It`s a bit like AirBNB - only our listings are for potential solar sites, " says Goren.

He is still working on the implementation of the platform in Bulgaria, which will be ready in a month.

How the platform works and how it can be useful to the renewable energy sector in Bulgaria, how AI works in the industry and how experts see the development of the solar market in Bulgaria. You’ll hear answers to all these questions in an upcoming interview with Eran Goren on the Economic.bg website.
