Рядък мъжки черен носорог умря, до момента в който го превозваха от Англия към Африка за развъдна стратегия, заяви в. "Мейл он сънди ".
Носорогът Замбези, който беше на 17 години, трябваше да бъде настанен в резерват в Танзания измежду 10 женски с вяра броят на животните да бъде повишен. Той обаче умря по пътя.
Замбези е роден и отгледан във фондацията "Аспинал " в Лим, графство Кент. Той към този момент беше татко на три носорогчета и по тази причина очакванията наследниците му да се усилят бяха огромни.
Операцията по преместването на еднотонния носорог струваше повече от 250 000 лири. В нея участваха 200 души на два континента.
"Шокирани сме от загубата. Не знаем какво е предизвикало гибелта. Ще създадем проучвания, с цел да научим нещо за в бъдеще " - сподели ръководителят на фондацията Деймиън Аспинал.

Well that’s it folks! Zambezi was safely loaded on to the plane and took off just a couple of hours ago for his new life @grumetifund. We would like to thank everyone involved and can not wait to see him take his first steps in Tanzania #blackrhino #backtothewild #rhino #byebyebezi #chubbyunicorn #conservation

The Aspinall Foundation is deeply saddened to announce the death of Zambezi, a male black rhino from Port Lympne Reserve. Zambezi was being transported via air from Kent to Tanzania, in partnership with the Grumeti Fund and the Tanzanian government, as part of a programme to repopulate the Serengeti with black rhino. The cause of death is currently unknown however a full investigation will be carried out as soon as possible.
