Half of Bulgarians think: We should have a strategic partnership with Russia
Russia is a necessary partner with whom we should cooperate strategically, 47% of Bulgarians believe . This is according to a survey by the European Council on Foreign Relations. 18% of respondents believe that Russia is an ally that shares our interests and values. 17% say Moscow is an adversary with whom we are in conflict.
Italy falls somewhere in the middle, with a quarter of respondents considering Russia an „ ally “ or „ partner “ of Europe or their country, and only about a third seeing Moscow as an „ adversary “ .
In Poland, 39% of respondents are ready to end all relations with Russia even after the war in Ukraine is over. Meanwhile, the majority in Bulgaria /51%/, about 1/3 of the Austrians and Hungarians and 1/4 of the Germans are already considering the restoration of relations of full cooperation with Russia after the war . It would be dangerous if European discussions on this issue were led by these extreme positions, the European Council on Foreign Relations believes.
39% of the Bulgarians who took part in the survey say that there is no need to impose sanctions on China if it decides to supply weapons to Russia. 38% do not have an opinion on the matter, and 24% believe that sanctions are necessary, even if it affects Western economies.
Other curious survey results show that Europeans want to remain neutral in a potential conflict between the US and China . Europe also approves of Europe’s closer relationship with the US, but wants to rely less on US security guarantees.
